4 militants and soldier killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 3 (UNI) Four militants and a soldier were killed in the Kashmir valley overnight, a defence ministry spokesman said today.

The troops on a specific information conducted search operation in a village at Kangan early today, he said.

During the operation militants attacked the troops with automatic weapons and in the ensuing encounter three militants were killed, the spokesman added.

One Army jawan also lost his life and a police constable was injured.

Three AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.

The troops killed another militant in a separate encounter at Bandipora in North Kashmir, the spokesman said.
