20 killed in bus accident in UP

Lucknow, May 3 (UNI) At least 20 people, including a son of Uttaranchal Pradesh Congress Committee president Harish Rawat, were killed and 26 others injured when a Uttaranchal roadways bus carrying them fell into the Kosi river in Rampur district early this morning.

The bus was on its way to Haldwani from Delhi when the driver lost control of the vehicle on the Kosi bridge linking Rampur with Moradabad.

The bodies had been recovered from the river while the injured were admitted to hospitals in Rampur and Moradabad, about 27 km from the spot, official sources told UNI here over phone.

A sadbhawna rally being organised by the Congress in Uttaranchal was cancelled as the news of the accident reached. The body of Ranjit Rawat, son of Mr Harish Rawat, is being sent to Almora while others deatils are awaited.
