Peasants Party to support DMK-led DPA
Chennai, May 2 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Peasants and Toilers Party led by Pon Kumar today pledged support to the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) in the May eight Assembly elections.
Mr Kumar, accompanied by party office bearers, called on DMK chief M Karunanidhi at Anna Arivalayam and offered support to DPA.
In a statement, Mr Kumar said the party had been supporting the AIADMK for the last 22 years, but it was not allotted a single seat by that party in this election.
He said the party, presently in the Social Justice Front, led by the Samajwadi Party, is contesting from 11 seats and would support the DPA candidates in all but these 11 constituencies in the state.
DMK Treasurer Arcot N Veerasamy and Union Miniser Dayanidhi Maran were among others present on the occasion, a DMK release here said.
