Seminar on Agri products to be held on May 22
Rajkot, Apr 30: Scientists and Agricultural experts will participate in a seminar on Agricultural products which is scheduled to be held here on May 22, as a part of state's Krishi Mahotasav.
Speaking at a press conference here on friday District Development Officer (DDO) M A Naramwala said experts would focus on value addition agricultural products and how to utilise balancing crop patterns with scientific methods so that it would help raise their incomes.
Giving details about the Krishi Mahotsav (Farm Festival), Mr Naramwala said main object behind this Mahotsav is to create awareness among the farmers and to get knowledge of how they can make optimal use of available resources and to reduce their production costs.
Last year's Krishi Moahotsav had helped raise the crop production, he said. It is not only to focus on agricultural production but also create awareness about the Horticulture and animal husbandry.
Mr Narmwala said, during one month Krishi Mahotsav, 4,770 soil-health cards would be distributed among the farmers after taking soil samples from villages, he said.
Horticulture department would distribute 862 books of agricultural guidlines to the farmers in the district, Deputy Director of Horticulture R K Kathrotia said.
About 500 selected women from 14 talukas of this district will be trained to preserve Jam, Jelly, pickles and vegitables, Mr Kathrotia said.
During this Mahotsav, 13,000 agricultural-kits would be distributed among the farmers.
Krishi-Rath would cover 862 villages of this district in a one-month Krishi Mahotsav, Mr Narmwala said.
