Two killed, nine injured in fire mishap

Tiruchirapalli, Apr 28: Two people were charred to death and nine others injured, two of them seriously as fire raged through the first floor of a house at Devarayaneri village near here, today.

Police said all the inmates of the house died when the thatched roof caught fire and fell of them while they were sleeping. These people hailed from Orissa and were employed in a private firm that manufactured Wind Mill Equipments at Mathur.

The deceased were identified as Sahar (27) and Basu Dev (32).

While Sahar died on the spot, Dev succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.

Police said electrical short circuit was the likely cause of fire.

A case had been registered and an investigation was underway, they added.
