Two ATTF rebels shot dead in encounter in Tripura

Agartala, Apr 28 (UNI) Two All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) rebels were shot dead in a fierce encounter with security forces in West Tripura's Khowai subdivision.

According to police sources here today, Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and the Police received information about the presence of a gang of armed militants belonging to ATTF, at Hatkata remote village last night and launched a combing operation to nab the ultras.

A 9-member rebel gang with sophisticated ammunition fired on the security forces during the operation. The TSR and Police jointly retaliated forcing the militants to flee.

Later during the search operation, the security forces recovered two bodies and a pistol, a walky-talky and documents from the site.

The encounter took place shortly before midnight and continued for about fifteen minutes.

Senior police and TSR officials rushed to the spot and launched a massive combing operation to nab the other fleeing rebels.
