Tripura increases per capita income
Agartala, Apr 28 (UNI) Tripura has increased its annual growth rate from 5.65 to 7.75 per cent during 2003-2004 over the past one decade which is stated to be higher than the national average.
According to Annual State Domestice Production (SDP) report prepared by the Economic and Statistics department of Tripura, the state is fast growing in terms of average growth rate of economy and per capita income of the citizens.
The per capita income in the state raised four times more during the past one decade which was Rs 5543 druing 1993-94 financial year as against the national level's of Rs 7690 in the same period. The per capita income of this landlocked state has increased to Rs 20,357 in the 2003-04 fiscal year while it stood at Rs 20,989 in the national level during that period.
The state was also making tremendous success in achieving the target to increase the annual growth rate of economy, the report said and added that state's annual growth rate in economy was 5.65 per cent druing 1997-98 fiscal year as against the national growth rate of economy 5.37 per cent during the same time.
The state is maintaing steady progress to lower the national growth rate during the last decade, the report stated.
