TN Yadhava Mahasabai to support DPA in assembly polls
Chennai, Apr 28 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Yadhava Mahasabai today decided to support the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance(DPA) in the May eight elections to the Tamil Nadu assembly.
Talking to newspersons here, Prof V Kalaimani and R Tholkappian General Secretary and Vice President, respectively of the Sabha alleged that despite approaching the Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa repeatedly with their long-pending demands, including the inclusion of Yadhavas in the most backward list, they failed to elicit any response from her.
They also alleged that Ms Jayalalithaa had totally neglected the one crore-strong Yadhava community in the selection of candidates for the assembly polls.
They said DMK President Mr M Karunanidhi had asssured to redress their grievances, if elected to power.
Following an assurance from Mr Karunanidhi, the Mahasabai decided to extnd support to the DMK-led front, they added.
Sabha's Youth wing Leader P Pandiyamani said they completed their initial campaign in different parts of Tamil Nadu, and a propaganda team, comprising Sabha's office-bearers, would undertake intensive campaign in support of DPA candidates in the Southern districts, especially in the Yadhava dominated constituencies from April 29 to May six.
