Sachin and others felicitated with Sahyadri Navratna awards
Mumbai, Apr 28 (UNI) Sachin Tendulkar is a great player and he should continue playing good cricket and make more unbreakable records Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna has said.
The Governor made this observation here yesterday while speaking at a function of fifth Sahyadri Navratna awards given by Doordarshan's Sahyadri (Marathi) channel. The batting maestro, who is out of cricket for several days due to shoulder injury, was felicitated by 'Ratnasaurabh' award on the occasion.
Replying to the felicitation, Tendulkar said awards always make him happy. He said he was proud to be a Maharashtrian and added that Maharashtra had always supported him and expected that the support would always continue.
The other recipients of the awards included Ulhas Kashalkar(music), Amol Palekar (film), Mohan Wagh (drama), Prakash Amte, Mandakini Amte (social work), Pratapsinh Jadhav (journalism), Ms Nasima Hurjuk (talented woman), Ajit Gulabchand (industry) and Mangesh Padgaonkar (literature).
Vallari Karmarkar, a disabled student and Akka Pawara, a tribal woman were also felicitated on the occasion.
CEO of Prasar Bharati M V Kamath, Director General Naveen Kumar and Doordarshan Mumbai Director Mukesh Sharma were among others present on the occasion.
