PM to visit TN on May 4

Tiruchirapalli, Apr 28 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will visit Tamil Nadu on May four to campaign for the Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) candidates led by DMK for the May eight assembly elections.

Talking to newspersons here today, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) President M Krishnasamy said Dr Manmohan Singh will arrive here on the evening of May four to address a public meeting.

The venue of the meeting is yet to be decided.

Later, he will leave for Chennai, where he will address a public meeting in support of DPA candidates.

The Prime Minister said the DPA will sweep the polls. The DMK President M Karunanidhi will fulfill his election promises, without any hindrance, he added.

Mr Krishnasamy condemned the police for denying permission to the Congress to conduct a public meeting at Edamalaipattipudur, on the outskirts of Trichy yesterday, where he was suppose to address the gathering.

He alleged that though the police had earlier given permission to the meeting, later they withdrew it, citing State Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's election tour to this district.
