OBC quota: Medicos stage token fast

Bangalore, Apr 28 (UNI) The Government Medical College undergraduate students staged a token fast here today into protest against the proposed move to increase OBC quotas in Central educational institutions.

Bangalore Medical College (BMC) Junior Doctors Association President Venugopal said the agitation was also to show solidarity with the medicos in New Delhi.

He said the undergraduate students here had been boycotting classes since yesterday, while internees and Post-Graduate students were attending classes wearing black badges.

Dr Venugopal said the protest was not only against Reservation but also the inhuman treatment meted out to medical students by the police in New Delhi when they were on their way to meet Union Human Resources Minister Arjun Singh at his residence to register their protest.
