Nitish orders inquiry into irregulaties in canal construction
Madhubani, Apr 28 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today ordered, a ''thorough'' inquiry into irregularities committed during construction of a canal at Khajauli here in the district.
Mr Kumar directed Water Resources Secretary Hem Chand Sirohi to inquire into the misappropriation of government fund meant for the construction of the canal.
''The State government would take strong action against the persons found guilty of misappropriating the government fund,'' he added.
He also inspected construction work linked with Kosi river.
Local farmers submitted a memorandum demanding payment of compensation in lieu of the acquisition of land by the state government for execution of the construction work.
They also urged the Chief minister to take remedial measures for protection of the people from the fury of the recurrent floods.
