Nitish exhorts scribes to work without fear or favour

Patna, Apr 28 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today commended the spirit of the fourth pillar of democracy and exhorted journalists to continue their temperament of being impartial in their work.

The Chief Minister, however, admitted that as a human being, he too got irritated with news reports exposing his administration but hastened to add the better aspect of the fact that it helped him in improving the administration.

Delivering his inaugural speech on the research project for Hindi Journalism of Bihar, Mr Kumar outlined the role of Journalism in the country's freedom and other movements and said it had the potential to influence the people in a positive direction.

''Despite higher number of illiterates, readership in Bihar is immense as evident from the huge sale of newspapers and magazines.

The people of this state are more aware as they not only read but express their views on issues highlighted in the daily newspapers,'' he noted.

Referring to the pivotal role of journalism in all walks of life, Mr Kumar appealed to the scribes to be impartial and write without any hesitation.

Mr Kumar, who reads several newspapers, revealed that while doing so he solves several problems raised in the newspapers. ''We all should take advantage of the relevent information published in the papers,'' he said.
