Muttathu Varkey award to Kamala Surayya

Kottayam, Apr 28 (UNI) Noted writer Kamala Surayya (Madhavikutty) has won the Muttathu Varkey award, the highest award given for Malayalam Literature.

Announcing this at a news conference here today, Muttathu Varkey foundation Chairman M K Madhavan Nair and Secretary Mathew J Muttathu said the award, consisting of a cash prize of Rs 33,333, memento and citation would be presented at a function at Ernakulam on May 28, the 17th death anniversary of Muttathu Varkey.

N G Nayanthara of Thiruvananthapuram University College has been selected for the 'Kalalaya award' for college students. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 25,001, citation and memento, they said.
