More than 2000 objections/suggestions against delimitation
Mumbai, Apr 28 (UNI) More than 2000 applications of objections and suggestions have been received for the final draft of the delimitation of Assembly constituencies in Maharashtra.
Addressing a press conference here today, Chief Electoral Officer U P S Madan said the last date of filing the suggestions and objections ended on April 13.
The hearings for Aurangabad and Nashik would be held in the respective places on May two, for Pune in Pune on May four, for Konkan and Mumbai on May six in Mumbai and for Amravati and Nagpur on May eight in Nagpur.
He said a PIL has been filed in the High Court against the delimitation exercise stating that it is wrong and unconstitutional.
Hearing on the PIL regarding its admission is slated on May two.
Mr Madan pointed out that the current exercise of delimitation of Assembly constituencies cannot be challenged in the courts.
