MCX index closes 54908 pts down at 46,548.65 crore

Mumbai, Apr 28 (UNI) Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) was up with 54.90 points (2.37 per cent) and has recorded a total weekly turnover of Rs 46,548.65 crore for the period April 21 to 27,2006.

The MCX metal index was up by 87.75 points (5.34 per cent) while Agri index also was up by 118.60 points (4.53 per cent). MCX energy index was down by 41.67 points (-1.55 per cent).

MCX gold (June 06) registered a turnover of Rs 19,453.77 crore while MCX silver (May 06) recorded a turnover of Rs 18,833.56 crore.

The outstanding open interest for MCX gold (June 06) was 9,645 kg.

The outstanding position for MCX silver (May 06) for the week was 3,21,350 kg.

In the metals segment, MCX copper (June 06) registered a turnover of Rs 3,178,97 crore with open interest of 7,583 tons, while MCX Zinc (May 06) recorded a turnover of Rs 1,533.73 crores with open interest of 10,930 tons, MCX aluminium (May 06) recorded a turnover of Rs 298.89 with open interest of 3,148 kg.

In the energy segment MCX Crude oil (May 06) contracts showed a turnover of Rs 1,205.07 crore with open interest of 5,80,300 BBL.

Turnover of some of the major pulses traded on the MCX were as follows - Urad registered a turnover of Rs 438.01 crore with the open interest of 15,580 tons. Chana registered a turnover of Rs 199.01 crore with open interest of 15,660 tons. MCX Mentha oil registered a turnover of Rs 214.99 crore with open interest of 34,77,960 kg. MCX Refined soy oil with open interest of 582.57 tons registered a turnover of Rs 231.60 crore and MCX Potato registered a turnover of Rs 115.44 crore with open interest of 85,080 tons.
