MCX index closes 2.45 pts down at 2,311.09

Mumbai, Apr 28 (UNI) Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) has recorded a turnover of Rs 2,169.76 crore at the close of trading hour today.

The index closed at Rs 2,311.09 down by 2.45 points (-0.11 per cent). MCX has recorded a turnover of Rs 2,169.76 crore while the total trades registered were 34,367.

The MCX metal index was up by 16.57 points (0.63 per cent), while its agri index was down by 10.85 points (-0.66 per cent). MCX energy index was also down by 13.07 points (-0.49 per cent).

The combined MCX bullion registered a turnover of Rs 1,285.35 crore, including various MCX gold Rs 565.00 crore and MCX silver Rs 720.35 crore. The total trades recorded for the MCX bullion were 17,038. The open interest for gold was 9,671 kg, while the outstanding position for silver was 3,44,740 kg.

In the metals segment, MCX copper registered a turnover of Rs 207.33 crore with 4,519 trades, while in the energy segment, crude oil contracts showed a turnover of Rs 49.23 crore with open interest of 5,87,700 BBL.

Turnover of some of the major pulses traded on the MCX were as follows - urad registered a turnover of Rs 102.70 crore with 1,223 trades, chana registered a turnover of Rs 42.31 crore with 709 trades, tur recorded a turnover of Rs 9.94 crore with 339 trades while masur registered a turnover of Rs 18.89 crore with 580 trades.

Meanwhile, potato recorded a turnover of Rs 21.62 crore with 1,549 trades while mentha oil registered a turnover of Rs 29.23 crore with 1,549 trades.

Amonst the spices, MCX Cardamom registered a turnover of Rs 5.21 crore with 603 trade being recorded and an outstanding open interest of 102 kg. MCX Cardamom (May 06) closed at Rs 232.90 down Rs 5.30 (-2.28 per cent). MCX Cardamom (June 06) closed at Rs 231.50 down Rs 8.80 (-3.80 per cent) and MCX Cardamom (July 06) closed at Rs 231.50 down Rs 9.00 (-3.89 per cent).
