Maneka to chair international environment award jury

New Delhi, Apr 28 (UNI) Former Union Minister and animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi has been nominated to chair the jury for selection of winners of the prestigious international Energy Globe Award for Sustainability.

The environment award was instituted seven years ago by Austrian environmentalist Wolfgang Neumann.

The award is given annually in the categories of Water, Earth, Fire and Air. There is also separate category for encouraging youth efforts for sustainability. The award presentation ceremony is held in a different continent every year.

The Energy Globe awards are aimed at creating awareness of today's environmental problems and building capacities to face the challenges to come up in future.
