Pramod Mahajan still critical, surgery ruled out
Mumbai, Apr 28: After conducting CT scan on senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan at the Hinduja Hospital here on the seventh day of his treatment for grievous gunshot injuries, the doctors today ruled out surgery saying he is still critical.
In the medical bulletin issued this afternoon, hospital Director (Administration) Dr Anupam Verma disclosed Mr Mahajan's requirement of medication to support his blood pressure and ventilation ''have marginally gone up'' since last night.
The 56-year-old Mahajan also continued to be on dialysis five days after the second surgery on Sunday evening.
Giving the location of three bullets embodied in his body, Dr Verma said, ''One bullet has been located by the CT scan lodged in the muscle of his back, the second bullet lies in the 'subcutaneous tissue' of his back and the third bullet is embodied in the 'P-12 vertebra' but has not crossed to the spinal canal.'' Hospital spokesman said the CT scan also confirmed the earlier injuries of the liver and pancreas, adding that these injuries co-related to the earlier findings of the first operation conducted on Saturday morning soon after Mr Mahajan was admitted to the hospital.
Dr Verma said, ''There is fluid in the left side of the chest which is being drained by inter-coastal drain being put in by Dr G B Daver and his team.''
