Madhu Mangesh Karnik appointed president of culture/literary board

Mumbai, Apr 28 (UNI) Noted Literateur Madhu Mangesh Karnik has been appointed as the president of the Maharashtra State Literary and Cultural board.

This was stated by Culture Minister Ashok Chavan in a statement here today.

The appointment coincides with Mr Karnik's 77th birthday.

He was born on April 28, 1931, in Sindhudurg district. His first work 'Konkan ga Vasti' was published in 1958.

He was the president of the 64th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan at Ratnagiri in 1990.
