LDF has no clear vision on development: Oommen Chandy
Kannur, Kerala, Apr 28 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today alleged that the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) had no clear approach on developmental issues of the state during its election campaign.
Participating at a press meet, he said the LDF should have made development as their main issue in campaign. But they failed to do so as the LDF was still in the dark on the development issues.
Mr Chandy said, however, on the other hand the United Democratic Front (UDF) had projected development as its main agenda in the elections.
Pointing out the Smart City project, the Chief Minister said the UDF Government had always worked for the development and welfare of the people during its five year term and required more such projects in the state.
The Government had nothing to hide about the Smart City project and even the MoU of the project had been put on Web site to make the deal transparent, the Chief Minister said and claimed that the project was expected to generate nearly 70,000 jobs directly and triple fold indirectly.
However, the CPI(M), which opposed the project had not made its stand clear whether the project was necessary or not, he alleged. At the same time in Bengal they encouraged and extended all facilities to IT companies, he added.
Citing the Bekal tourism development and the proposed Kannur Airport and making the district as the handloom headquarters, he said the UDF Government had put more efforts for the development of Malabar region.
He alleged that the LDF was appeasing the communal organisations to seek their votes in the elections.
