K'taka to ensure proper supply of cotton seeds to farmers
H D Kote, Apr 28 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will introduce a new system of registering names of farmers to ensure proper supply of seeds to cotton growers in the state, Agriculture Minister Bandeppa Kashempur informed today.
Addressing newspersons here, the Minister, who rushed to the town this morning following widespread protests by cotton growing farmers in the taluk against inadequate supply of seeds, he said under the new system, to be introduced across the state in four days, farmers should register their names and details about land owned by them at the Ritha Samparka Kendra paying just Rs one. They could also mention the brand of seed they required.
He said sufficient time would be given to the farmers to submit their requirements and hoped that the system would ensure proper supply of quality seeds to farmers.
Mr Kashempur also announced that the government had already established tie up with the Indian Fertilisers Farmers Cooperative for supply of fertilisers to farmers on time.
Earlier, addressing the farmers in front of the taluk office, he assured them that quality seeds would be supplied to them.
