Kolkata airport to have international business facilities
Kolkata, Apr 28 (UNI) A world class flower auction centre and a most modern cold storage facility will soon be set up at the city's Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) airport complex at a cost of Rs ten crores.
Disclosing this Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) Chairman K S Money informed the Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry(BNCCI) members this evening that while the state government had agreed to provide the necessary infrastructural support for establishing both the facilities, the Union Commerce Ministry under which the APEDA operated, would grant the necessary funds.
Referring to the other initiatives taken by APEDA to give further boost to the growth of agricultural processed food sector in the state, Mr Money said following their concerted efforts necessary funds were approved for the setting up of a modern testing laboratory at the state's Bidhan Chandra Roy Agricultural University for which it had later earned a distinct reputation.
Underscoring the need for having the necessary market requirements, the APEDA Chairman felt that at the same time value addition should be looked after for complete commercialisation of food products.
