Jet tickets cost more due to fuel surcharge

Mumbai, Apr 28: Jet Airways today announced to levy fuel surcharge of Rs 300 on all types or fare levels for both club premiere and economy class tickets on all domestic routes in India, effective May 01, 2006.

This surcharge has been necessitated by the continued escalation in fuel prices, a company release informed BSE.

The fuel surcharge will be levied on all tickets purchased within and outside India, issued against both INR and USD. Tariffs of Rs 300 will he collected per flight coupon on all domestic routes within India. For tickets issued outside India, the same will be converted into local currency by using the applicable exchange rate, the release added.

The surcharge which is non-commissionable will be applicable on all domestic sectors irrespective of the point of sale or point of ticketing. It is also applicable on all domestic segments, even if the domestic segment is part of an international journey. The surcharge will not be applicable on sale of tickets made on or before April 30, 2006 as per the ticketed itinerary. However, the surcharge will be applicable if tickets are presented for any voluntary change. Jet Privilege redemption tickets will be exempt from this surcharge.
