'Eyetrend 2006' meet aboard luxury cruise

Coimbatore, Apr 28 (UNI) The city-based Lotus Eye Care Hospital, known for its academic training of the young and practicing ophthalmologists, will organise an international conference 'Eyetrend 2006' in a luxury cruise ship on the Arabian Sea sailing to Mumbai, Lakshadweep islands and Goa from May 7 to 11.

Addressing a press conference here yesterday, Hospital Chairman Dr Selva K Sundaramoorthy said the conference with the theme ''current practice and future trends'' will be a family holiday cum academic update. The conference, catering to practitioners and Post Graduate students will feature symposia, lectures, film shows and debates.

He said the idea of holding it on a ship was taken from conferences being held in the skies. Arrangements have been made for the participants to come along with the family members.

Dr Sundaramoorthy said current topics like stem cell treatment in Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD), artifical eye and corneal remodelling will be discussed with the aim of understanding emerging techniques and technologies in eye care.
