Electricty staff joins stir

Imphal, Apr 28 : The All Manipur Engineering Department Union Council (AMEDUC) has decided to support the ongoing ceasework strike of the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Union Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees Organisation (AMGEO) with immediate effect.

The JAC was appealed to discuss the problems faced by the engineering departments while negotiating with the Manipur government. Further the council urged all other engineering unit departments of the council to take up immediately necessary actions to support the ceasework strike of JAC, AMTUC and AMGEO.

Meanwhile, the ceasework strike launched by the state government employees affected normal functioning of many government offices in the state.

The indefinite ceasework strike launched by the JAC, All Manipur Trade Union Council and All Manipur Government Employees Organisation entered the ninth day today.

The JAC had also appealed to all those working in the essential services to join the strike from May 15 onwards. The government teachers have also joined the stir.

The demands of the employees among others, included increase in DA, rectification of pay anomaly, regularisation of adhoc employees, revival of die in harness scheme and extension of retirement age from 58 to 60.

The employees attended offices, but did not do any official work.
