EC issues notice to Cong, DMK in TN
New Delhi, Apr 28 (UNI) The Election Commission today asked the Congress and the DMK to explain by May 1, the reason for using as many as 228 vehicles for the election rallies held on April 25.
A commission spokesman said similar show-cause notices had also been issued to other alliance partners of the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) for violation of the model code of conduct.
Though the EC did not specify the rallies, Congress President Sonia Gandhi had addressed a meeting at Madurai on April 25, while DMK supremo M Karunanidhi had addressed a rally in the neighbouring Thiruchirapalli.
The state will have assembly elections on May 8.
