Congress leader supports OBC reservation
Lucknow, Apr 28: Senior Congress leader and former Uttar Pradesh minister Ashok Yadav today said a massive rally would be held in New Delhi next month in support of the demand for OBC reservation in higher education and private sector jobs.
Mr Yadav told mediapersons here that all like minded leaders would be invited for the rally, to be held at the Talkotara Stadium in mid May, to press for reservation for OBCs.
He, however, said that a ''de-reservation policy'' should be formulated to ensure that those who have already enjoyed the reservation benefit were kept out of the ambit of reservation for OBCs.
Criticising Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav for having ''no face'' on reservation, Mr Yadav said the Samajwadi party supremo had always opposed reservation rather than supporting it.
When asked if there were differences within the Congress on the reservation issue, the former UP minister said if some people were opposing reservation, it was their personal view.
Mr Yadav said a rally in support of OBC reservation would be also held at Mahoba on May one by the Yadav Mahasabha.
