CM urges administration to ensure better 'yatra' season

Dehradun, Apr 28 (UNI) Uttaranchal Chief Minister N D Tiwari today issued instructions to all the concerned departments to ensure a memorable stay for pilgrims in the state, with the 'Yatra' season just round the corner.

The opening of Yamunotri and Gangotri Dham on April 30, and Kapats (door) of Badrinath and Kedarnath on May 4, will kick off the 'yatra' season in the state.

Mr Tiwari has instructed the Commissioner of the Garhwal region to ensure a safe yatra season for its visitors.

Taking into consideration the frequent accidents during this time, Mr Tiwari instructed transport, police and revenue deparments to ensure safety of vehicles and drivers and check overloading and inebriated driving.

He has also appealed to private transporters to co-operate in the government's effort. He has further ordered personal accident insurance schemes for the tourists.

Mr Tiwari has urged the health departments to make available, life saving equipments and other medical facilities in various yatra camps. He has also instructed the administration to check over pricing of the items during the season.

Meanwhile, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has made special arrangements and has decided to ensure regular supply of recharge coupons/cards of mobile service, ITC and internet.

It would provide mobile services through BTS on Rishikesh-Badrinath, Rishikesh-Kedarnath, Rishikesh-Gangotri and Dehradun-Mussoorie-Yamunotri routes.

According to BSNL CMD Mr Mahendra Kumar, around 1000 STD-PCOs are working on the 'yatra' routes to provide communication facilities to the pilgrims.
