Arms licence to farmers to perk up wheat procurement in UP district
Sitapur, UP, Apr 28 (UNI) Perturbed over the decline in wheat farmers selling their produce at government wheat procurement centres, the district administration here has embarked on a unique drive of issuing gun licence for procurement of the staple foodgrain.
Official sources said here today that farmers selling 500 quintal or more wheat at the procurement centres in the district will be issued revolver licence on a priority basis, while those selling 250 quintal or more at the centre will be accorded similar benefit in issuance of gun licence.
Sources further said that farmers selling their produce directly to the Food Corporation of India (FCI) godowns will be benefitted with an additional ten rupee per quintal for their produce.
The series of measures have been taken following information of farmers sending wheat through rail racks to other states instead of selling the produce at the government wheat procurement centres in UP, sources added.
