AMU Old Boys Association to celebrate Supreme Court decision
New Delhi, Apr 28 (UNI) Hailing the Supreme Court judgement maintaining the minority character of the Aligarh Muslim Universiy, Uttar Praesh Tourism Minister and General Secretary of the AMU Old Boys Assciation Kaukab Hameed today said they would celebrate the judgement in a big way on May seven.
''We will organise a meeting of the AMU alumni at which Rashtriya Lok Dal President Ajit Singh, Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development A A Fatmi and some left leaders, who were associated with the AMU, would be felicitated,'' Mr Hameed told reporters here.
A grand dinner will also be organised on this occasion.
''Our main objective is to express our gratitude to the Supreme Court,'' he said.
Last week, the Supreme Court had delivered a judgement, retaining the minority character of the AMU as per the 1981 amendment to the statutes of the university, but restrained it from implementing the Human Resource Development Ministry's decision to reserve 50 per cent reservation in admissions there.
