Advani's U-turn on Telangana chameleon-like: Cong

New Delhi, Apr 28: Terming as height of political opportunism Mr L K Advani's reported U-turn on the demand for carving a Telangana state out of Andhra Pradesh, the Congress today cautioned the BJP leader against opening a Pandora's Box to the detriment of his own party.

Asserting that Mr Advani had opposed the formation of Telangana when he was Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the Home Ministry, AICC Spokesman Rajiv Shukla told reporters that the BJP leader had now ''changed colours'' as the TDP had broken ranks with the saffron party.

Sharply reacting to Mr Advani's reported remarks that the BJP was ready to support any government Bill moved in Parliament for the creation of Telangana, Mr Shukla said this was nothing but unadulterated political opportunism.

As long as the TDP of Mr Chandrababu Naidu was supporting the NDA government, the BJP was opposed to the idea of Telangana, the Congress said.
