UP traders rally to oppose foregn entry in retail sector

Lucknow, Apr 27 (UNI) Traders of Uttar Pradesh under the banner of UP Udyog Vyapar Prathinidhi Mandal, will hold a massive 'vypar bachao rally' here tomorrow to oppose the Centre's decision to allow foreign companies in the retail sector.

Chief minister and Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh will attend the rally to be held at the Laxman Mela grounds.

Talking to UNI, UP Udyog Vypar Prathinidhi Mandal president and Rajya Sabha member Banwari Lal Kanchal said more than one lakh traders would attend the rally.

In the rally, a 14 point charter of demands would be submitted to the CM, which include total ban on the foreign companies in retail sector and several other facilities for the traders in the state.

Mr Kanchal said the traders would also honour Mr Yadav and Mr Singh for pro-trader policies, including implementation of at least 300 demands of the community.

Talking about the illegal activites of a parallel traders' group led by Shyam Bihari Mishra, the RS member said if they failed to stop their activites, his organisation would be forced to lodge a FIR against them for misusing the name of the organisation.
