UP to set up 6 international-level sports complex
Jaunpur, Apr 27 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Sports and Youth Welfare minister R K Chaudhary today said the state government would set up six international-level sports complexes in the state.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Chaudhary said the complexes would come up at Varanasi, Agra, Faizabad and Saifai (Etawah).
''Two places will soon be identified in western UP for the purpose,'' he informed.
To encourage sports, the state government has appointed a 'sports marshall' in every village. ''We are also setting up 18 gymnasiums, which are nearing completion,'' he said.
The minister claimed that the state government was committed to giving impetus to rural-based sports such as kabaddi, wrestling, volley ball and tug-of-war.
