Two die in lightning in AP

Srikakulam, Apr 27 (UNI) Two persons were killed and ten injured when lightning struck Sitarampalli village under Patapatnam mandal in this district today.

Five of the injured were brought to the Pathapatnam government hospital following the lightning and were shifted to the Parlakimidi government hospital in the neighbouring Orissa state, as there were no medical personnel in the Pathapatnam hospital. Nagavarapu Ramana (36) and Ommidivarapu Simhachalam (24) succumbed to the serious burn injuries, in the Parlakimidi hospital.

According to police, the condition of four of the injured was critical.

The condition of Ramana's younger brother Suribabu, father Suryanarayana and uncle Sriramulu was stated to be critical. All these belong to Ranasthalam Erravaram village. Police said Mallipur Veeramma (45) of the Sitarampalli village was also injured in the lightning. She has also been shifted to the Parlakimidi hospital.
