TRS chief confident of Telangana state by May

Hyderabad, Apr 27 (UNI) Hailing the BJP's announcement of support for creation of Telangana state, Telangana Rashtra Samiti founder president and Union Labour Minister K Chandrasekara Rao today expressed confidence that statehood would be realised in the month of May with full cooperation from the Congress.

''We have full faith in Congress president Sonia Gandhi. We will hold a victory rally here on formation of Telangana state in May. It was with her support the issue was included in the UPA's Common Minimum Programme and President A P J Abdul Kalam speech,'' he recalled at a public meeting in Telangana Bhavan to mark the party's fifth anniversary.

He criticised the opposition for opposing the demand of a separate state. With the BJP supporting the statehood issue it enjoyed support of two-thirds of MPs in the Lok Sabha, he added.

Threatening to complain to Ms Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh against the Rajasekhara Reddy government for alleged injustice to the Telangana region in recommending names for filling vacancies in the High Court, he said the region was getting a raw deal in the unified set up in various fields including allocation of water.
