Senior journalist stranged; 5 arrested

Lucknow, Apr 27 (UNI) The Police today arrested five people in connection with the murder of a senior journalist in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh late last night.

The newsman, Satpal Malik, was allegedly strangled with a leather belt at the district hospital.

Meanwhile, local businessmen and lawyers boycotted work today to protest the incident. Political parties have also expressed anguish over the murder.

Mr Malik was attacked when he was trying to collect information for his news-story.

Meanwhile, his body was cremated was performed this morning in the presence of a large number of journalists, political leaders and traders.

Investigations are on.
