Rupee closes nine paise up at 45.02/03/USD

Mumbai, Apr 27 (UNI) Rupee today closed stronger by nine paise at 45.02/03 per US dollar, as compared to the previous close of 45.11/12, a forex dealer in the money market here said.

Earlier, the Rupee opened stronger at 45.08/10 per US dollar as compared to the last close of 45.11/12, the dealer added.

Rupee traded at 45.07/08 in the mid-morning session as crude oil prices fell in the global markets and domestic stock markets were in the green.

The crude oil price in the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) softened further to USD 71.5 per barrel, which eased pressure on the rupee.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) reference rate for rupee versus US dollar was 45.06, three paise down from the previous close.

The six-month forward premia ended higher at 1.34 per cent, as compared to previous close of 1.26 per cent.

The one-year forward premia also ended higher at 1.27 per cent, as compared to the last close at 1.22 per cent.

The cross-currency closing rate for the rupee against the euro was 55.86(55.95), which was nine paise down; for pound sterling it was 80.27 (80.45), 18 paisa down and for the Japanese yen it was 39.02 (39.20), 18 paise down from the previous close.
