Mercury rises to 41 degree C

New Delhi, Apr 27 (UNI) Continuing its upwards climb, the Mercury in the Capital today shot up to 41 Degree C, heralding the arrival of scorching hot weather conditions in the capital.

The minimum was to 24.3 degree C, one Degree above normal.

Adding to the sultry conditions were duststorms and hot surface winds which left Delhiites perspiring and forced many to remain indoors.

The scorching conditions could prevail in the coming days with the weather office forcasting a clear sky and more duststorms in the next 24 hours. The weatherman also predicted the maximum temperature tomorrow will remain at 41 degree C and the minimum to take just a slight dip to 23 degree C.

The Met office, however, forecast a rise in minimum temperature to 24 degree C on Sunday and Monday.

The rising trend in mercury is due to the dissipation of the Upper air cyclonic movement that had contributed to pleasant weather in Delhi in the second week of April.

The Upper air cyclonic storm, originating from Rajasthan, had moved away from the Capital since April 21, setting off a series of dry winds across the capital.
