Merck Q4 net spurs 98.09 pc to Rs 18.54 crore

Mumbai, April 27: Merck Ltd has posted 98.09 per cent increase in net profit to Rs 18.54 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2006, as compared to Rs 9.35 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year.

The company said its total income has increased by 40.28 per cent to Rs 107.43 crore for Q1 FY 2006 from Rs 76.58 crore in Q1 FY 2005.

Sales grew by 38 per cent to Rs 101.5 crore and the profit before taxes grew by 112 per cent to Rs 31 crore.

Ethicals used in the treatment of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases and vitamins are the core of Pharma business.

Sales in the Pharmaceuticals business sector grew by 48 per cent from Rs 35.4 crore in January to March last year to Rs 52.5 crore in January to March this year.
