Meerut fire accused Tomer arrested, two still at large

Meerut, Apr 27 (UNI) The Police today arrested one of the three organisers of the Victoria Park trade fair, where a devastating fire killed nearly 60 people on April 10.

The police had kept the arrest of Lakhan Tomar under wraps but after it was leaked to the media, the Director General of Police Bua Singh confirmed the arrest this afternoon.

The arrest of Tomar was kept a secret, fearing reprisal from locals enraged over the fire tragedy, police sources said.

Lakhan Tomar was among three fair organisers, including Siddharth Manohar and Aasin Gupta, against whom arrest warrants were issued following the fire.

Siddharth Manohar and Aasin Gupta are still at large.
