Man held guilty for kidnapping and raping minor 'wife'

New Delhi, Apr 27 (UNI) A city court today sentenced a man to seven years rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping and raping a minor, whom he had allegedly married.

Additional Sessions Judge R P S Teji sentenced Manoj, and also six members of his family, to two years rigorous imprisonment, as the 'consent' of the minor was not valid in law.

Manoj was also fined Rs 3,500 while the family members were fined Rs 1,500 each.

The incident had occured in May 2000 in Navi Karim area of Old Delhi.
