Mahajan is critical but stable; no significant change: Hindjua

Mumbai, Apr 27 (UNI) There is '' no signficant change'' in the condition of senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan who remains '' critical but stable'' on day six at the Hinduja Hospital here even as his dependence on drugs to control his blood pressure has been gradually coming down since Monday after two surgeries.

Hospital spokesperson Dr Anupam Verma, reading out the evening medical bulletin here today, said '' No significant change in his condition...he still maintains the same level of medication as informed in the morning bulletin...he is still on ventilator and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) (read dialysis) in the ICU.'' Asked if there has been a significant change in his medication from Saturday till today, Dr Verma said '' No but from day three ( Monday) till this afternoon medication to control his blood pressure has been declining gradually.'' But no further decline in dose was registered today, indicating that adminstration of ionotropic drugs to strengthen the contraction of his heart muscles is still required.

The vital health parameters of 56-year-old Mahajan became unstable on Sunday and led to an emergency second surgery, a day after he was operated for grievous gunshot injuries he suffered allegedly at the hands of his younger brother Pravin (45).

Three bullets, which had shattered his liver, head of pancreas and small intenstine on Saurday when Pravin pumped them into his body at his Worli residence here, are still embedded in his body.
