State to set up Science Park in Kodagu

Madikeri, Apr 27 : The Karnataka Government proposed to set up a Science park in Kodagu in this district, Science and Technology Minister Ramachandra Gowda said.

Talking to newspersons at Bhagamandala yesterday, he said the project required six acres of land.

Stating that the government was keen on according top priority to tourism promotion in Kodagu, he said the KSTDC guest house here was being renovated at a cost of Rs 96 lakh. The Raja seat garden, a popular tourist attraction, would also be improved, he added.

The government had enhanced the funds sanctioned for Malnad to carry out development works to Rs 60 crore from Rs 14 crore. It had already released Rs 10 crore for the purpose, he added.

Mr Gowda, also district in charge minister, earlier visited Talacauvery, eight km from Bhagamandala, to review the renovation works going on at pilgrim centres.

He also attended special poojas performed at Thalacauvery and Bhagamandala by the district BJP leaders at temples, praying for the speedy recovery of BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, battling for life at a private hospital in Mumbai.
