Koirala appointed Prime Minister of Nepal
Kathmandu, Apr 27 (UNI) President of Nepali Congress Girija Prasad Koirala was appointed as the Prime Minister of Nepal this evening.
A statement issued by the Press Secretary of Royal Palace said King Gyanendra on the recommendation of the Seven-Party Alliance (SPA) and in accordance with the Constitution of the Kingdom 1990 appointed Mr Koirala as the new Prime Minister of Nepal.
The Nepali Congress had earlier sent official communication to King Gyanendra about his election as Legislature Party Leader. He was elected unanimously to the post at the meeting of the Legislature Party presided over by general secretary Sushil Koirala at the Singh Darbar complex.
The 82 year-old leader was unanimously nominated as the Prime Ministerial candidate by the Seven Political parties on Tuesday.
