Kanchi Seer case posted for June 7 for hearing

Pondicherry, Apr 27: Pondicherry Principal District and Sessions Judge M Chinna Pandy hearing the Sankararaman murder case in which the Kanchi Acharyas Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra Saraswathi are the prime accused, posted the case for June seven for the production of an accused, who is absconding.

When the case came up for hearing today, five accused, including the Acharyas failed to turn up and seperate petitions were filed by their Counsels, citing the reason for the absence of the three.

The other two accused Palani and Arumugham were involved in an attempt to murder case at M G R Nagar in Chennai, while Palani was arrested by the Tamil Nadu police, as the accused Arumugham is absconding.

Mr Chinnapandy on April 17 had issued an arrest warrent against Arumugham, which was yet to be executed by the police.

Since, the police is yet to apprehend Arumugham, the judge posted the case on June seven for his production.

Meanwhile, Counsel for accused number five Krishnasamy filed a petition seeking first class facilites for him in the prison on health grounds.

Mr Solomon Francis in his petition pointed out that Krishnasamy is an income tax assesse and he is not in a good shape The couinsel asked to provide him first class facility.

Tamil Nadu special public prosecutor Balasundaram prayed that even though Mr Krishnasamy is an income tax assessee, the nature of crime committed by him be considered and sought to file a counter.

Mr Chinnapandy permitted the prosecution to file the counter tomorrow.
