Independent Shoaib wins Sangrama seat

Baramulla, Apr 27 (UNI) An Independent candidate Shoaib Lone won the by-election from Sangrama Assembly constituency, defeating his nearest Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Javid Hussain Baigh with of 6318 votes.

Mr Lone, son of former PDP leader and minister Dr Ghulam Nabi Lone, who was killed by militants at Tulsibagh last year, polled 18526 votes. The PDP candidate Baigh, nephew of Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baigh got 12208 votes.

Mr Lone wrests the seat from PDP.
