Idea launches womens' card, calls even on zero balance

Pune, Apr 27 (uni) Idea Cellular today launched the ''Womens' Card'' both for prepaid and post paid connections with women-centric value added services that include calls even on zero balance.

Addressing a press conference here today at the launch,Idea Cellular CEO Vikram Mehmi said that womens' card was addressing special needs of women.Products include special gup-shup rate at 50 paise per min without any additional feature fee. Free daily SMS tips on health and beauty, Instant safety alerts to loved ones (3 numbers) in case of emergency by just dialling code and expert advise and counsseling on medical and behavioral concerns.

The womens'card is available to the customer at Rs 299 with Rs 150 talk time. Subscribers can make calls even on zero balance to any number worth Rs 25. Women who are already subscribers of Idea can register for the new scheme till May 31. In time more value added services are likely to be introduced, Mr Mehmi disclosed.

To a question about target sales, Mr Mehmi said, ''out of the present mobile users, 7 per cent are women. It is this segment the company will try to attract. We hope to double the figures of women mobile subscribers. Presently,Idea has a total of 7.5 million mobile subscribers.'' He, however, did not mention any time frame for the achiving the target.

The womens' card was launched by Idea brand ambassador, actress Urmila Matondkar.
