Governor felicitates people for bravery

Mumbai, Apr 27 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna has felicitated eight persons, including actor Rahul Bose, with 14th Godfrey Phillips Bravery Awards for the state.

The awards, given yesterday, honour those persons who emerge stronger under adversity and it now covers 16 states across the country.

The awards were given in Physical Bravery and Social Acts of Courage and in each category the winners were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals alongwith cash awards of Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively and certificates.

The three recipients of the Maharashtra physical bravery awards are Pramod Ingale, Ramnihal Yadav and Dinkar Kamble while four of the social acts of courage are Santulan Sanstha, Sudharma Gyamsabha Bahuuddeshiya Sanstha, Maruti Nana Kadam and Gopal Agarwal.

Rahul Bose was given a special award for his contribution during the relief and rehabilitation work of Tsunami affected people.

In his speech, Mr Krishna praised the Godfrey Phillips describing it as the only business house which is giving award for civilian bravery.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Bose expressed pleasure for being selected for the award and said his personal values of justice, truth and peace have always guided his actions and given him happiness.
