Family Welfare dept employees continue stir
Imphal, Apr 27 (UNI) The Family Welfare department employees in Manipur today staged a protest for the non-payment of salaries for last four months.
The employees, under the Family Welfare dfepartment Employees' Association, had launched an indefinite strike from April 13 in the state.
Association general secretary N Tomba said the employees would not take part in the next phase of the pulse polio immunisation programme on May 21 as a part of the stir.
The employees were not getting salaries regularly for the last few years after the Union government instructed the state to take over the responsibility of the works of the department from 2002-03 onwards.
There are 31 rural family welfare centres under the department.
Works were, however, ceased due to the strike.
The stir would continue until pay were regularised.
